Sudeshna Ghosh Banerjee is the Regional Director for Infrastructure in the East Asia and Pacific Region at the World Bank, based in Washington D.C. In this role, she directs around 80 staff across energy, transport and digital practices in addition to managing a portfolio of operations of about $6 billion USD. She was previously the Practice Manager for Energy in Europe and Central Asia and Africa East regions where she was responsible for directing energy operations and policy engagement. An economist by training, her thematic focus is on project economics, monitoring and evaluation and a broad range of energy issues including energy transition policies, energy access, renewable energy, subsidy delivery and economic assessments. She holds a Ph.D in Public Policy from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) and MA in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics (India).
