The World Hydropower Congress is the sector’s premier global gathering and a leading platform for shaping an energy-secure future. Held biennially, the Congress brings together heads of state, CEOs, and civil society leaders to advance the policies and financial solutions needed to accelerate progress toward net zero. As the industry’s flagship event, it sets the direction for how hydropower, the backbone of the global renewable system, can meet the urgent challenges of the climate crisis.
The Congress will be held on 6-8 April 2027 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney in Sydney, Australia.

No, this is an in-person event only.
No, the Congress attendees need to make their own transportation arrangements to and from the airport.
The Congress ticket includes admission to all programme sessions, the opening and closing ceremonies, the exhibition hall and the welcome reception on the evening of Monday, 5 April 2027. Congress ticket holders will also get access to the Congress app and lunch and refreshments during coffee breaks.

On Tuesday, 6 April, the event will close at 18:00.
On Wednesday, 7 April the event’s main programme will end at 18:00 and will be followed by a gala dinner and awards ceremony until 22:30.
On Thursday, 8 April the event will close at 15:15.

We offer discounted rates to high-level government officials, employees of international non-profit or civil society organisations, academics and students in the relevant subject/field.
Your eligibility for the discounted rate will be subject to approval by the Congress Secretariat. If participants are found to be ineligible for the category and/or fee under which they have registered, IHA reserves the right to adjust the registration fees.
The Congress accepts VISA, MasterCard, and American Express for on-site payment for events. A processing fee applies to all credit card transactions, excluding food and beverage retail outlets and car park.
Group registration is available exclusively to IHA members.
If you are an employee of an IHA member organisation and would like to book tickets for a group of your colleagues, please contact congress@hydropower.org before registering.

Yes, you can cancel your registration until the final registration deadline on 5 April 2027. If you wish to cancel, please see the Congress' general terms and conditions for more information on our registration cancellation policy.
You may request a letter of invitation from the Congress Secretariat as part of your registration. The letter of invitation will be sent upon completion of the registration process to the email address you provided. Please present this letter alongside your other supporting documents (the proof of your Congress registration and payment must be included) when lodging your visa application at one of the Australian visa application centres overseas or online.
The letter of invitation does not financially oblige the Congress organisers in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the Congress are the sole responsibility of the attendee, except stipulated otherwise.
Please note that letters of invitation will not be sent after 15 March 2027.
