Introduction to GHG Emissions from Reservoirs Workshop (half day)
Date: 5 April 2027
Time: TBC
Venue: TBC
Details:
Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from reservoirs are increasingly considered a key criterion for assessing the sustainability of hydropower. This training will provide a complete overview of the subject to provide participants with a solid foundation to understand and manage emissions.
We will start with a scientific introduction about what happens when a reservoir is created, including the main GHG emission pathways (diffusive emissions, bubbling emissions, degassing emissions) and some lesser-known ones. We will also compare the leading reporting methods, such as field measurements, emission factors, modelling (including the G-res Tool) and remote sensing. To conclude, we will analyse a case study and investigate options for mitigating GHG emissions.
The workshop attendees will receive a digital certificate of completion.
Price per person: AUD 165
