Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition

Maria van Veldhuizen has worked on gender, energy, and climate finance issues for the past seven years. She is currently a project manager at the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET), which works to advance just energy transitions by empowering women working in the energy sector worldwide. In this position she has worked with the International Hydropower Association and colleagues at GWNET on a study on gender equality in the hydropower sector financed by the ESMAP programme of the World Bank. In addition, Maria supports just energy transition and climate adaptation strategy development in governments and international organisations as an independent consultant. Previously, she worked as Senior Communications and Outreach Manager at the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP). Maria holds an MSc in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from Central European University, Lund University, and the University of Manchester.
