Carney
Prime Minister of Canada

Mark Carney is the 24th Prime Minister of Canada, having assumed office in March 2025. He previously served as Vice Chair of Brookfield Asset Management and Head of ESG and Impact Fund Investing, where he focused on developing investment strategies that deliver strong risk-adjusted returns alongside positive environmental and social outcomes. He has also served as the United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance.

Mr. Carney is an economist and former central banker. He served as Governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020 and, prior to that, as Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013. He was Chair of the Financial Stability Board from 2011 to 2018. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Goldman Sachs and at the Canadian Department of Finance.

He is a long-standing advocate for sustainability and climate risk management. Mr. Carney has served on a number of global boards, including as an external member of the Board of Stripe and as a member of the Global Advisory Board of PIMCO. He has also been involved with the Group of Thirty, the World Economic Forum Foundation Board, the Harvard Board of Overseers, and the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford, among others.
