Jennifer Granholm is a former United States Secretary of Energy, serving from 2021 to 2025, where she led efforts to advance clean energy technologies, strengthen energy security, and support the transition to a net-zero economy.
She is an experienced public leader and policymaker, having previously served as the 47th Governor of Michigan from 2003 to 2011 and as the state’s Attorney General from 1999 to 2003—the first woman elected to both roles.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a federal prosecutor and legal advisor, and later held academic and advisory roles focused on energy policy, economic development, and industrial transformation. She has been a prominent advocate for clean energy innovation and the role of policy in driving sustainable economic growth.
Granholm holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
