Joko Widodo, commonly known as "Jokowi" was the 7th President of Indonesia (2014–2024). He entered politics after a career in the furniture industry, serving first as the Mayor of Surakarta and then as the Governor of Jakarta. His tenure was characterised by a focus on massive infrastructure development, including the construction of toll roads, dams, and the initiation of the Nusantara capital relocation project. Economically, he implemented "downstreaming" policies to restrict raw material exports and encourage domestic processing, while maintaining a neutral foreign policy. He concluded his second term in October 2024, overseeing the transition of power to his successor, Prabowo Subianto.
