PT Kayan Hydropower Nusantara is joining IHA on the road to powering sustainable growth at the 2023 World Hydropower Congress as a primary partner this year.
Established in 2018, with a vision to be the driver of renewable energy based industrial development (REBID) in Indonesia, PT KHN is a joint venture between PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk (Adaro), PT Kayan Patria Pratama (PT KPP) and Sarawak Energy. PT KHN’s focus is to drive sustainable socio-economic transformation in North Kalimantan, acting as a catalyst to infrastructure development, utilities and economic opportunities surrounding their projects. PT KHN are supporting the Indonesian Government’s target of 23% renewable energy by 2025 and 31% by 2050 by embarking on the development of the 1,375MW Mentarang Induk Hydroelectric Project in Malinau Regency, North Kalimantan.

In accordance with Indonesian law Good International Industry Practices (GIIP), KHN is advancing the expansion of renewable energy in Indonesia guided by IHA’s Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol and an emphasis on affordability and reliability for local communities.
