Elaine joined IHA in December 2022 under a two-year secondment arrangement with Sarawak Energy, an energy development and power utility group based in Sarawak, Malaysia.

As a Stakeholder Engagement Manager in IHA, she works with members and various stakeholders beyond membership and industry to advocate and drive sustainable hydropower through various initiatives and campaigns.

Elaine has more than 25 years of professional experience in corporate communication and is responsible for managing corporate reputation through proactive and targeted communication and brand campaigns of stakeholders at local, regional and international levels.

She is a founding team member of the Sarawak’s Sustainability & Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF), a platform developed to advance the role of renewable hydropower in the region. Elaine was one of the core members of the project team in converting a private land to a totally protected area in Sarawak when she was the Head of Communication of Sarawak Forestry, Sarawak’s custodian of totally protected areas and biodiversity conservation.

She is an accredited member of the Malaysia Institute of Public Relations Network. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management from Northern University of Malaysia. During her free time, she enjoys yoga, travelling and exploring new things. She is involved in women mentoring programmes and young professional outreach activities.

Elaine is fluent in English, Chinese and Malaya and she is also conversational in several Chinese dialects.
